When I discovered I was pregnant, one of the first sentences that flew out of my mouth was: “We have to move!” Living in a tiny apartment with a tiny baby would be okay, but what about a toddler? And what about all those steps (we lived in a 3 story walk-up)? And what about all those (much needed) guests that would stay for weeks after the birth?
So moved we did, to a delightful 3 bedroom on a quiet, family-friendly street. The only issue was the previous owner was apparently enamored by red…every shade. From the kitchen to the hallway to the soon-to-be baby’s room, we had everything from blood red to pale pink. So, yes, it was time to paint!
I know good air quality is incredibly important for my growing child, so painting a baby room – or any room in the home – with a baby on the way had its challenges. We knew we needed to choose a paint low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) or find one totally free of them.
It turns out that Behr, Sherwin-Williams, and Benjamin Moore all make high-quality, low VOC paints in practically any color on your wish list – mine was Silverlight Grey (in photo above)!
Hoping to paint your baby’s nursery? Don’t fret about the color or brand, practically everyone makes low VOC paint.
