If you’ve ever been on the fence about acupuncture as a pain solution, a recent study suggests you should reconsider, especially if you’re heading into labor and delivery. According to the study published in Birth: Issues in Perinatal Care, acupuncture has been shown to greatly reduce the need for drugs and other invasive methods for childbirth pain.
Not only that, but of the 607 Danish women who received acupuncture needling for anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, 490 reported they were satisfied with the pain relief.
Fifty-nine percent of the women thought that acupuncture gave some or substantial pain relief and 55 percent said it had a somewhat or very calming effect.
