Breastfeeding Study Suggests Higher IQs & Incomes
When it comes to feeding our babies, all mothers know the mantra: “Breast is Best.” Well, it turns out “Breast is Best” just got one heck of a boost. A study of infants that began in 1982 in Pelotas, Brazil has concluded that babies fed on the breast have higher IQs and rates of higher incomes as adults.
The long-term study published in Lancet interviewed 5,914 new mothers about their plans for breastfeeding and then followed up…for the next 30 years.
Although the study did not measure home life, intellectual stimulation or family bonding, the findings underline the existence of more than just short-term health benefits for baby. Read more about the study and benefits for breastfed babies.
