Fit Veggie & Fruit Wash Product Review

Is a produce wash all it's cracked up to be? Is it worth the effort? We put Fit Organic Produce Wash to the test.

I’ve always been a little skeptical of produce washes. They seemed counter-intuitive: why would I want to put something additional onto my fruits and veggies when I’m trying to get rid of any lingering substances on their surfaces? I’ll admit that I think there was an element of laziness, too, with the extra energy it seemed to require to pull out the cleaner, soak or spray beforehand, rinse, etc. It just didn’t seem worth the effort.

Until I used Fit Organic Produce Wash. And watched the video below.

My interest in using Fit had originally been piqued after going to a natural food store and noticing a sign they had posted in their produce section describing the waxes found on their produce. If the natural food store still used waxes, I thought, then it was probably worth a shot to try to clean my produce from wax, pesticides, and other applied substances if I could once at home. I knew I had a bottle of Fit Produce Wash just waiting to be tested, so I took the plunge. It’s true that I didn’t notice any lingering taste or smell after using Fit. Until watching the video, I hadn’t realized that what the video shows is accurate – I also didn’t notice any beading of the spray on the strawberries I washed, and they really did look and taste fresh; there didn’t seem to be anything “extra” on their surface. Honestly, it’s something I hadn’t really noticed before…until there was a noticeable difference.

The beauty of Fit is that it isn’t a product that uses chemicals to remove chemicals (the same logic I had originally questioned); their spray is is “USDA certified organic and removes 98% more pesticides, waxes, human-handling residues, and other contaminants than water alone.”

I’ll definitely be using Fit Produce Wash more regularly for my fruits and veggies, especially if they’re not organic. Thanks to Fit, I’m a produce wash convert. Sure, it took a tiny extra step to use, but the results are worth it.
