Reduce Stretch Marks Naturally
Your skin takes a beating during all stages of pregnancy. Ever-changing hormones can make you feel as if you’re taking a second pass at puberty, and, once that belly begins to bulge, stretch marks make their mark due to the increase in the skin’s elasticity. While you may have to suffer through a few breakouts (sorry!), there are a few things you can do to reduce your chances of stretch marks. It’s never too early to begin a stretch mark reduction routine, but by the beginning of the second trimester you should have your daily regimen down.
There are several great belly balms on the market that will reduce the appearance of marks, but, because many contain ingredients that may be harmful to baby, be sure to read labels very carefully. If you’re avoiding store-bought balms, try applying vitamin K cream directly to the belly and increasing foods containing vitamin K like leafy greens, tomatoes, liver and dairy products.
If your stretch marks have already set in, try applying essential oils like lavender oil on marks three times daily (this will help them fade faster).
Although stretch marks can’t always be avoided, there are things you can do to reduce them. Check out the Baby Center for a few tips on how to avoid stretch marks during pregnancy.
