Reading Time

Our last edition of sun safety articles is saved for those who spend most of their waking summer hours soaking up rays – the kiddos.

Kids are squirmy, especially when it comes to sunscreen time. But it’s important to wrangle them up and slather it on this time of year.

Even though it’s easier to apply, you should avoid spray-on sunscreens. That toxic stuff can get into eyes, or even worse, into your kiddo’s lungs during application. Opt instead for mineral-based sunscreen. Yes, it’s thick – but it works. There will be no more burned shoulders or noses because you can see exactly where you’ve put it on, and when you need to reapply.

Remember that hats are lifesavers – at any age. And look for UVA/UVB blocking swim shirts and rash guards for your littlest swimmers.
